It's a Wonderful World, Now With a Wonderful Discount

Square Enix's Subarashiki Kono Sekai: It's a Wonderful World, also known as The World Ends With You in its soon to be released English format, is now available at a heavily discounted price of USD 39.90 (previously USD 58.90), with free international shipping to some countries.

Here's a description of the game, taken from Play-Asia:

Neku Sakuraba, a normal 15 year-old boy with a hobby for music and graffiti, suddenly had woken up in middle of Shibuya one day, a famous shopping district in Tokyo, Japan. Why he's there remains a mystery to him. All of a sudden, the thoughts of the people surrounding him began to enter his head at once. It must had been happening because of the mysterious badge he held in his hand. Suddenly, Neku's cellphone rings with a text message on it. It says that if he wants to live, he'll have to fulfill a set of orders entitled "Death's Game" which must be completed under a 7 days limit.

Most of the gameplay focuses on finding clues and battling Noise. Players can use Neku's empathetic abilities to hear people's thoughts by using the touch screen of the Nintendo DS whenever they wish. The game's combat system, titled Stride Cross Battle System, uses both screens of the Nintendo DS; where one of four protagonists is displayed on the top screen and Neku is displayed on the bottom, with battle actions taking place simultaneously between both characters. Players use the touch screen to move and attack with Neku, whose revealed abilities include lightning, fire, telekinesis (moving objects), and healing magic.

Subarashiki Kono Sekai: It's a Wonderful World is developed by the Kingdom Hearts.

Nodame Cantabile DS Review

To put it simply, Nodame Cantabile is classical music's answer to Ouendan and its ilk. From what I can garner from the game, most of the action takes part in different portions of a school. The game is abit text heavy when it comes to talking to characters, but gamers are only face with choices whether to accept, or decline a challenge.

Once accepted, gameplay can consist of either two types, both of which should be easy to pick up by Ouendan veterans and first timers alike. The first one involves hitting the Japanese drum on time, ala Taiko no Tatsujin. The second style is a twist on one of Ouendan's various gameplay techniques, where you have to hit the notes at the appropriate time and position.

A different classical piece will be heard playing in each challenge, and like other rhythm games, its best to get into the mood in order to fare better. The game even has my favourite piece from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

Passing each challenge unlocks even more challenges but since they have an easy vibe to them, gamers should be able to blaze through them pretty quickly.

Would I recommend this game? The answer is yes! Forget about the Japanese text, as you can go through the game quite easily without being encumbered by it, and classical music fans are in for a treat!

One portable console that I'll be getting this week would be the Game Boy Micro (GBM). I've been wanting to get one of these ever since my trip to Dubai last year, especially the Happy Mario edition.

New R4DS Firmware v1.15 Out Now

For the latest R4DS articles for the Nintendo DS, head over to the brand new www.nineoverten.com.

The R4DS guys just released a new firmware several days ago, making the latest version number as v1.15. There's nothing much to shout about, except that it fixes the problem relating to Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge. Not a problem to me, because I always buy original (check out my collection here).
