Places to Get Video Game Consoles in KL/Klang Valley

My brother called my up yesterday evening, asking whether did I know any shops selling a Nintendo Wii. Now, shops selling Nintendo Wiis are a dime a dozen in KL, but reputable ones, the ones that I would trust buying any console from them, is just down to two.

The trouble was, the forum which I frequent and has the contact details for one of the shops, was down and that shop had no other online presence. So doing these two shops a favour, I'm posting both contact details here.

First up is Gamers Solution, located at City Bazaar along the famous Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, infront of Pertama Complex. I bought my brother's PSP from this place and the boss Bernard Moh and his other half, Crystal, are more than willing to go through the details of using a console, especially if you are a n00b.

Excellent customer service, and pricing as their forum thread can testify. Here's the contact details:

Shop: Gamers Solution
Address: City Bazaar, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Kuala Lumpur. (from the main entrance, to your left)
Contact Details: 03-26977728, 012-3783129, 012-3173079
Contact Person: Bernard/Crystal

The second shop would be Gamers Hideout, located in probably one of the hottest hangouts in the Klang Valley, Cineleisure Damansara, next to The Curve. If there's a place I would go to get an Xbox 360, these are the go-to guys. And they have their own website!

Shop: Gamer's Hideout
Address: Lot LG - 11 (i), Lower Ground Floor, Cineleisure Damansara
Contact Details: 03-77252775
Contact Person: Djinn (Jason)
Website: http://www.gamershideout.com.my

Should you find yourself lost, or unable to find their shops, do call them. And no, I'm not getting paid for this. What's the point of having a video games blog if you've got no shops to recommend. So happy shopping!

Look Out! He is a Spider Pig...

Spider Pig...Spider Pig...that is one tune that you won't be able to get off your head once you have watched The Simpsons Movie. I caught this movie at Cineleisure after the CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championships 2007 finals at The Curve on Saturday. It turned out to be one of the funniest movies I've seen all my life.

Full of gags, jokes and familiar characters and sights and sounds from the TV series, the movie had the entire cinema hall laughing, cheering and even clapping and it was almost a laugh-a-minute roller coaster ride with Homer and family. Bart's attire-less skateboarding sequence drew hoots... :P

The series kind of translates well from being 30 minutes per episode to a feature length movie and it doesn't disappoint. The 2D animation is retained and the writting is as funny as ever. So go catch the movie, otherwise it's D'oh! to you.

Of Squirrels and Men

"749" That's the price of a PSP quoted to me by a sales guy at Gamers Hideout, Cineleisure while he was still munching on a mouthful of food. I felt rather grossed out, both by the price (the package doesn't come with anything, he didn't even bother to calculate in stuff like the screen protector and the Memory Stick, talk about a lack of enthusiasm) and the fact that he looked like a squirrel stuffed with nuts in its mouth.

I'm not a fan of people acting like squirrels, or anemic sales people. It's the second time I've been to the place and I must say besides the staff being too engrossed playing video games to pay attention to customers, the place, though different in terms of presentation compared to other video game shops, is overrated.

Anyways, it was rather lively at the Curve and Cineleisure today despite the hot weather outdoors. Got a big display case from ShiokToys for RM 39.90, 4 books from Borders (it's the last day of sales) along with a Moleskine notebook and a Naruto figurine. Children of Hurin is on my desk now, but it will have to wait until I'm done with my work.
